Fashionable Coffee Table Books.

I just love love love coffee table books. They're so much fun to flip through and might I add, they accessorize a lonely basic room staple to perfection? This is especially the case when the focus of your coffee table book is well...fashion.

Whenever anyone isn't quite sure of what to give me as a gift, I always have a few new fashionable coffee table books on hand to request, tactfully of course. My sisters are actually quite responsible for half of my fashionable library.

Never ever am I able to leave Anthropologie without bringing a new hardcover home with me. Oh, and have you checked the SLS hotel's gift shop??? It's my version of a library.

SLS Hotel Gift Shop

Here are a few of my very favorites that you need to start stacking on your table...

1. Tom Ford by Tom Ford

2. The Little Dictionary of Fashion: A Guide to Dress Sense for Every Woman by Christian Dior

3. Yves Saint Laurent: 40 Years of Creation by Yves Saint Laurent

4. American Fashion by Charlie Scheips

5. Christian Louboutin by Christian Louboutin, Philippe Garcia, David Lynch and John Malkovich

DIS-pise it; Beetlejuice Stripes

I despise black and white vertical stripes. When I see this pattern I instantly think "beetlejuice, beetlejuice, beetlejuice!" I honestly find criminals in horizontal stripes less offending.

Can't quite get an appropriate modern day visual of this deadly fashion crime? Let me show you...

I understand that vertical stripes are "lengthening" and skinny up your legs instantly, but that's what pinstripes are for.

This jacket would be ugly in any print or color, but the stripes make it a thousand times uglier. Side note, what's with the brown scarf? Obviously the girl is colorblind.

This jacket is even worse...it's from H&M.

I'm suffocating from the neckline and the hem is making my OCD-ed mind freak out.

Is it a skirt? Is it pants? All I know for sure is that there is way too much going on right here down below the jacket.

Please do me a favor and never buy an article of clothing with black and white vertical stripes. I'd rather see you 10 lbs heavier in horizontal stripes than having you walk around reminding me of a creepy dead spirit from a late 80's flop of a movie.

"beetlejuice, beetlejuice, beetlejuice!"
Be gone.

Head Scarves in the Name of Liz Taylor.

"Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick, and pull yourself together."
- Elizabeth Taylor

Whenever I'm having one of those horrible, far below average days, I like to remind myself of the quote above by Elizabeth Taylor. I feel like she is staring at me straight on from her heavily lined eyes and her words instantly make me "pull myself together."

If her words somehow fail, and I just can't seem to be bothered with pulling myself together, I throw on a head scarf in the name of Liz Taylor before facing the rest of my day...

Head scarves are an easy way to camouflage a bad mood and add a little chicness to an outfit without calling unwanted (and outspoken) attention to yourself. I promise, no one in their right mind will come up to you and engage in a conversation for no reason. Head scarves are the perfect type of accessory that keep people away, quietly admiring you from afar.

Quick tip: Be sure to tie your scarf properly and coordinate it with a put together outfit so you don't end up looking like a cancer patient.

Now tell me, what more would you want on a day that requires one of these scarves?

Personally, I recommend Herm├Ęs.

Sending a Message Stylishly!

I've got a message to share with you, and it's nothing short of absolute chicness - envelope clutches!

I absolutely adore them. My favorite way to wear them right now is during the day and downplayed. Clutches are totally standard for night, but whipping out a fab one for the day is so so casually playful. Pair an envelope clutch with a patterned maxi or a great pair of structured cropped trousers. I suggest incorporating lots of color into your look and stay away from black - you don't want to risk it looking like a "walk of shame clutch from last night" - (at night however, black is perfect for play). Have fun with textures as well. My favorite is the Givenchy Croc-Stamped Antigona Envelope Clutch which actually inspired this post - it's the second featured down below!

Here are a few of my favorites available at Barneys currently...

Glamgerous: Meet Camilla!

Glamorous + Dangerous = Glamgerous

The simple equation shown above is the formula for the stylish brilliance behind part-time blogger, full time New Yorker, and aspiring stylist, Camilla's blog. I have been following this fashionista's blog for quite some time and read it religiously...swear on my Vogue.

I got the chance to speak with Camilla and ask her a few questions in hope of getting some serious glamgerous insight into her fabulous sense of fashion.

Check it out what she had to say...

LMP: How would you describe your personal style?
Camilla: Feminine, Hectic, and Glamgerous!

LMP: What designers/celebrities inspire your style?
Camilla: I love the elegance of Chanel, the Romanticism of Blumarine and the extravagance of Moschino.

LMP: What do you most love dressing up for?
Camilla: For a dinner with my boyfriend and for a Fashion Show.

LMP: What is something in your closet that you could never part with?
Camilla: With my Manolo Blahnik Something Blue Pumps. I love those heels and they mean much to me as they are a present of my boyfriend.

LMP: Favorite shoe designer?
Camilla: Miu Miu, Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik

LMP: Are you a fan of more Fall/Winter or Spring/Summer collections?
Camilla: Spring/Summer Collection, I'm obsessed with dresses and sandals more than boots and fur coats.

LMP: What's one trend that you're loving right now?
Camilla: I love that you can mix different patterns anyway you like.

LMP: Name one person's closet that you'd love to take over.
Camilla: I heard Blake Lively is one of the celebrities with the most clothes...I guess I'll pleasently change my closet with hers!

Love her answers?

You'll love her look even more...

Herringbone; Fish Meats Field.

her-ring-bone [her-ing-bohn]; noun

1. A pattern consisting of adjoining vertical rows of slanting lines, any two contiguous lines forming either a V or an inverted V, used in masonry, textiles, embroidery, etc.

2. Textiles - A) Also called chevron, chevron weave, herringbone weave . a type of twill weave having this pattern, B) a fabric constructed with this weave, C) a garment made from such a fabric, especially a suit.

3. Herringbone Restaurant; A trendy eatery in La Jolla, California, where "Fish Meats Field."

As much as I love the herringbone pattern, especially for those bougie fall and winter seasons, I'm absolutely obsessed with the third definition - Brian Malarkey's "boundless around-the-world farm to sea concept" at Herringbone.

Having eaten forkfills of delicious meals and taken endless sips of innovative handcrafted cocktails, it is confirmed that Herringbone is one of my very favorite places to dine at in San Diego as of the moment. The food is just incredible. The way Herringbone meshes sea and farm into one dish is sheer talent. Oh, and they brought over my all time favorite drink (the Peter Rabbit; Pimms #1, bruised basil, pressed lemon with a pickled carrot garnish) from Malarkey's first restaurant to open in San Diego, Searsucker, and placed a fabulously fragrant spin on it - you'll see what I mean when you order it for yourself, it's absolutely beyond!

Also, be sure to check out the amazing Herringbone Bloomspot deal (50% off!) going on currently for brunch or lunch. I snagged one for myself and a couple extra for friends. I suggest you do the same while they last. You absolutely must cheers with me, holding up a flute of my favorite brunching drink - the Peter Rabbit Mimosa - naturally.

Best Dressed Spotlight: Diane Kruger

Diane Kruger, July 13, 2012

On July 13, 2012, at the French Consulate screening of Farewell, My Queen in Los Angeles, Diane Kruger looks effortlessly put together wearing a Lucca Couture top, Hugo Boss pants, Sergio Rossi heels, Louis Vuitton bag.

Why I love this look:

1. Slouchy tank selectively showing just enough skin.

2. Colors coordinating!

3. Light strappy heels keeping legs elongated (not like she needs it).

4. No overbearing accessories making this look clean.

5. Masculine pieces holding the look strong while keeping femininity in check.

Catwomanize Your Wardrobe.

I finally saw The Dark Knight Rises this week and oh my god, Anne Hathaway's body was bangin'. I'll have what she's having. Other than drooling over her as inspiration and lusting after Christian Bale (handsome and rich - cha ching!) the movie was pretty standard. However, it did totally make me want to catwomanize my wardrobe stat - black, skintight, leather, yet still elegant enough to not pretty womanize it.

Check out some of the pieces I found that were worthy of a big kitty purr...
