Whoever said Black isn't Retro?

Whoever said sunglasses needed to have obnoxiously colorful frames in order for them to be considered "retro" is dead wrong.

Yes, pink or red frames certainly are a trait of the "retro" style, but it is the shape of the frame that determines whether or not the sunglasses fit this category.

Sidenote: Neon green is not "retro," it's tacky and cheap looking. I don't care if it's Dior Limited Edition. Neon sunglasses are such a NO in my book.

A Seventeen Moment.

It's my youngest sister Lindsay's birthday today. She's 17...going on 21 in my parent's eyes, going on 12 in my eyes. The baby of the family maybe...but really, not so much anymore.

Today got me thinking of my 17th birthday and how much I've changed since then. Worldly, I've become quite a bit more educated on how not to get raped in an alley behind a nightclub, what drinks at Starbucks have more calories than a daily caloric intake should total, the technical aspects behind playing hard to get and winning...those sorts of things. Change has occurred even more so in the looks department - goodbye Snooki poof and leathery fake tan. I have managed to embrace my natural "Casper the Friendly Ghost" complexion and have taught myself the art of a blow out.

Emotionally how much have I changed? Hardly at all. Relationship wise, of course I've grown, and grown a tougher skin with constant triumphs and falls. But at the end of the day, I'm still the same 5 year old princess bellowing at her kingdom with a fairytale in mind.

Oh, to turn 17 again. I got my very first Louis Vuitton bag from my parents on my 17th birthday.

That's what I remember the most about that day.

Sparkles in the Sun

No matter what the season or occasion, it's always acceptable to get a little glitzy with it. Of course my favorite time to bring out the sparkles though, would have to be in Spring...for some reason, the sparkle in my closet awakens with the warming sun and wants to play. After all, sparkle is never more fun than out in the sun.

DIY - Do It Yourself

The DIY trend is at an all time high right now, not just because of our pitiful economy (so long weekly facials and $50 spa pedis!), but because it has become a really huge statement in today's fashions...particularly, among the blogging world.

Gratification from buying a really fabulous maxi dress - high. Gratification from making a really fabulous custom maxi dress for a penny of the price - higher.

We as human beings, get off to making our own creation.

I, unfortunately, have a difficult time with the "DIY" aspect of DIY.

Do It Yourself? Sure. Do It Myself? WTF.

I can't even manage a DIY manicure, let alone waiting for a DIY manicure with rhinestones and snakeskin embellishments dry while turning a denim jumpsuit into a really fabulous studded vest that looks like it deserves to be walking right down the runway and forever posing on the red carpet.

How do these DIY-ers do it themselves???

I've got to get to the bottom of this.
I want to find out.
That is why I am challenging myself to DIY.

But, I am asking you to help in one teeny tiny way...

I find myself switching my opinion on the classic staple hourly. To be quite honest...what is the point? In my mind, you either wear "practical" flats or skyscraper heels.

When I'm working, I work it conservatively with a pair of suede Tod's or Fendi flats. When I'm playing, I play with the boys by towering over them in a pair of 5 inch Louboutins. It's really so simple.
