Ferragamo Celebrates the Rich Whites and Blues.

Red, white, and blue...so patriotic...but also so cliché. The point is to celebrate with our flag...not dress up as it. Who really needs red when your whites and blues are such complete showstoppers like in Salvatore Ferragamo's Resort 2012 collection? Ditch the red, and this Fourth of July celebrate in rich whites and blues...

Whitney Stern.

"Everyday Glam with an Edge"

Oval Chrysophrase Freedom Ring
14k Gold with Oxidized Sterling and Diamonds

Launched in 2007, and now just recently signed on full time at Henri Bendel...meet my newest obsession, Whitney Stern. Whitney Stern is a local company based in Seattle, Washington, works closely with fair trade female artisans in Lima, Peru, and sells to Manhattan's Elite in New York City. I spoke with Rachel, who is PR for Whitney Stern and she gave me great insight to the company and provided me the beautiful images of Whitney Stern's brand new line.

The Whitney Stern jewelry line was launched by designer Whitney Stern, after having been inspired by the indigenous artisan women Whitney met while living and studying in South America. Jewelry was soon being created combining the purest natural metals with chic, glamorous, and sophisticated designs.

18k Sanded Gold Earrings Milgrain Bezel
with Prongs encasing Free Form Black Drusy Agate

"We both really believe in the importance of a piece of jewelry to a person, and how their story can be passed down through these items."

Whitney Stern is an eco friendly designer and a majority of the materials used in her jewelry are recycled. Whitney uses this recycled jewelry concept and turns it into her own "Re-Jeweled" Service where she creates custom jewelry by taking an older piece from someones past and "re-vamps" it by making it edgier, more modern, and new to be passed on. Whitney Stern's designs are recognizable by the sanded finish and the WS signature bimetals.

Mystic Ring 7 Bands Connected
18k Yellow Matte Gold and Oxidized Sterling Indian Ruby

"I love contrasts, blending darks and lights and incorporating colorful natural earth stones that reflect the inner spirit of the person who wears them."

As I was going through Whitney Stern's new line, I picked out a few of my favorite pieces to feature in this post. I fell in love with so many of them...I hope you don't mind if I share a few more than I normally do:

The Make-Up.

The Inspiration of
Dolce&Gabbana's The Make Up

"Dolce&Gabbana introduces The Make Up: a collection of luxury colour cosmetics created by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. Inspired by the Dolce&Gabbana woman who surrounds herself with luxury and glamour, this is a classic range of must-have products. Pure metal gold packaging conveys harmony through the contrast of straight lines and soft, rounded edges. The collection's palette is inspired by the richness of the Mediterranean, the glamour of Hollywood and the femininity of woman."

Leopards, and Lipsticks, and Bronzers...oh my! I can't put into words how thrilled I was when the leopard printed bronzer in the beautiful gold compact caught my eye at Saks over the weekend. Dolce&Gabbana really hit it high with this make-up line. I can't wait to try it all. The bold red lipsticks, the matte eggplant eyeshadows, and soft peach blushes really raise the counters of the make-up department to a whole new wild level.

Wear Your Onesie Right.

Alexis Mabille
Spring 2011 Couture

This romper by Alexis Mabille is the perfect example of how to properly dress up your summer onesie.

Don't make the classic mistake of dressing yourself down to a 13-year-old running errands with her mom, when she really wants to be at the beach. Instead, style yourself in a way that makes the comfy onesie work.

1. Don't JUST wear the romper. It looks too unfinished. In Alexis Mabille's look, you see a tailored jacket. If you don't want to do a jacket, try a belt to pull the waist in. You could either do a braided or corset type belt (depending on the print of the romper) or go for a more delicate belt. This one by Gucci is a good choice:

Gucci
Horsebit Buckle Belt
$440.00

2. Watch your choice of handbag. I would really advise against too structured of a bag. The point of wearing a romper is to be fun...so, don't take it to the office. Fringe, tassels, a fun color, or even a wristlet can work. Try my newest obsession from DVF out:

Diane von Furstenberg
Belle Abstract-Print Satin Wristlet
$275.00

3. Pick the right shoes. Skip the heels when wearing an above the knee romper, it looks too street-corner-esque. Wedges are a good choice and so are flats. Yes, I did say flats. You won't hear me say this often, but flats are completely acceptable and very appropriate for this outfit. However, please pass on the gladiator sandals..always. And by always, I mean not just when wearing the romper. If you can't decide between wedges and flats, here is a good pick:

Bottega Veneta
Suede/Patent Leather Wedges
$590.00

4. Earrings are a great jewelry statement to wear because they continue the line of your body upward. You always want length when wearing a one-piece article of clothing. A cocktail ring or even bangles are a good choice too. Stay away from a bulky statement necklace. Especially a "choker." You would think it would balance out the solidness of the romper, but it really just doesn't. All necklaces aren't out of bounds though, if you really want to wear a necklace go for multi-thin-strands, maybe even knotted at the end for length, or try a long pendant necklace. I just love this one on a 16"+ chain:

Alexis Bittar
'Miss Havisham - Modern Georgian'
Double Pendant Necklace
$225.00

5. Smile. Out of all the pointers I've laid out in this post, #5 is the most important. You're wearing a onesie. You can't do the 'bitch' face. The 'bitch' face is almost more inappropriate than wearing heels like discussed in #3...it really just doesn't work. Also, you can't wear this look every day of the week (it needs to be on a very minimal rotation to get the most out of it) so ENJOY it when you rock it.

Do your onesie right and have the time of your life in it.

Put Yourself on the Proper Pedestal.

“I like to literally put women on a pedestal.”
— designer Vivienne Westwood, on high heels.

The second the warm summer nights come around, all hell's heels break loose and everyone completely forgets about maintaining a proper shoe attire.

We all know that during the Spring/Summer seasons we can find wedges galore...but do you really want to be clunking around in wedges to nice dinner dates or outdoor charity events? Wedges just remind everyone of horses. Plain and simple. I'm obsessed with them and have them by the bucket full, but even paired with the shortest dress, they won't make your feet look elegant or even slightly sexy.

Now, what about those strappy kind that look like the heel (or your ankle) will break in one shifty step...you really can't wear them on a rotational basis unless you have a pot of gold in your handbag or have a constant man at your side to protect your every step - double points if your man is a leprechaun. I wore my strappiest pair of Jimmy Choo's to Opening Day at the Del Mar Races last year and haven't taken them out of their beautiful box since because I just knew I'd be testing my luck if I did.

You're probably asking yourself, "Then what is left? You just bashed about every shoe I've been wearing this June..."

Have we forgotten all about the perfect pump? Don't disregard them just because the weather has turned up the heat. I know, it's always hard work finding a pair of elegant "pump" style heels to wear during the summer seasons. So, I picked a few of my favorites out for you:

Skyscraper Court
Vivienne Westwood
heel measuring at 12.5 cm

Garret
Jeffrey Campbell
heel measuring at 4 3/4 in

Maniac Metallic Pump
Brian Atwood
heel measuring at 5.5 in

Lace Bow Satin Pump
Dolce & Gabbana
heel measuring at 4 1/4 in

Platform Snake Pumps
Giuseppe Zanotti
heel measuring at 5 in

'Miss Dior' Pump
Christian Dior
heel measuring at 4 in

Ecotrash Platform Slingback
Christian Louboutin
heel measuring at 6 in

(I know this is a peep-toe slingback and doesn't quite constitute as a standard "pump" that we're talking about, but I couldn't resist...do you blame me?)

*Avoid the business-wear black leather and god forbidden suede (I don't like suede a good Chanel day, let alone a summer day). Stick to light beiges, fun colors, creative fabrics, skins, and embellishment.

Sidenote: The pink shoe on the pedestal shown in the first image of this post is hideous, and should never be worn, touched, seen, or ever created. It was only used to get a point across. Get it out of your head and never on your foot.
